A Modern Bohemian Wedding at Betty Danger's Country Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Nora Evans and Sumit Bhatnagar decided to ditch tradition to pull off a chic, fun-filled brunch wedding at Betty Danger’s Country Club—a self-proclaimed kooky restaurant and bar—in Minneapolis.

The couple (with a little help from Nora’s parents) handcrafted many of the day’s decorative details themselves, from the wood ceremony backdrop to the ombré tassel place cards, signage and table numbers. Nora’s mother arranged all of the event’s floral elements using flowers sourced from local flower farms and even her own garden. The bundles of soft, oversize dahlias paired perfectly with textured greenery and wildflowers to achieve a rustic yet romantic effect.

Personalization was a priority for the ceremony, leading Nora and Sumit to write their own vows. The pair also included cultural traditions that paid tribute to Sumit’s Indian roots: Nora wore mehndi on her hands and the pair performed a Sindoor Daanam ceremony, where Sumit applied sindoor, a vermillion red powder, to Nora’s hair part.

A palette of neutral, muted hues dominated the reception, with natural elements such as wood and greenery adding visual intrigue to the décor. To shake things up, Nora and Sumit brought in a vintage camper to serve as their photo booth. “It was the perfect addition to the vibe of the day and made for such a fun experience,” Nora says.
