A Modern and Industrial Loft Wedding at CAVU TPA in Tampa, Florida
Lucinda Nixon and Jonathan Elder wed at CAVU TPA, a restored automobile showroom built in the 1920s that connected to one of their favorite coffee shops. "If we had to choose a theme or style, it would probably be 'romantic' and 'modern bohemian,'" Lucinda says. "Our color palette was inspired by Florida wildflowers." In fact, wildflowers showed up in many of the decor elements, from the garland on the wedding arch to the topper on the cake. "Once we decided we wanted to use wildflowers, everything just fell into place. Overall we felt the space was already a beautiful setting, and our decorations were quite minimal," Lucinda says. The ceremony took place in front of an exposed brick wall, and it was accented with a macrame-covered wedding arch and greenery arrangements lining the aisle. The couple participated in a plant unity ceremony with an elephant watering can from their own home. Guests sat in cross-back chairs and waved homemade paper flags with fun sayings like "yay" and "yippee." Following the nuptials was a “coffee hour” in the coffee shop next door to the venue, in lieu of a cocktail hour. "We are both coffee lovers, and it was so fun to incorporate that into our wedding," the couple says. "The shop ran a full-service coffee bar, and guests could order any drink they wanted. It was perfect for getting ready to dance all night." For the neutral-colored reception, Lucinda and Jonathan set up some long communal tables with cross-back chairs and plenty of candles. They also repurposed wildflowers from the ceremony as reception decor. As for the big day fashion, Lucinda stunned in a romantic lace, off-the-shoulder dress with an A-line fit, while Jonathan sported a light gray suit with a blush floral tie.
