A Minimalistic, Modern Wedding at Wrong Marfa in Marfa, Texas

Married on the eight-year anniversary of their first date, Meredith and Juan-Carlos focused on simplicity. “We let the venues dictate the style,” Meredith says. The couple took part in a hand-fasting ceremony, using a cord the bride braided herself at Wrong Marfa and honored Juan-Carlos’s Mexican heritage with a traditional game of Lotería at the after-party. Friends of the couple designed the stationery with a hooked thumbs logo, a gesture the couple practices daily. Juan-Carlos chose the dairy-free carrot cake from Wimberley-based Sugar Shack Bakery, and Meredith went with her favorite: chocolate cake. “I’d always known that’d be my wedding cake,” she says. Guests were welcomed to dinner with spicy margaritas.  To accommodate allergies, the restaurant made most of the food dairy- and gluten-free. The menu included fresh and colorful food, with family-style summer paella being a big hit.
