A Mexican-Inspired Barn Wedding at Round Barn and Farm Market in Biglerville, Pennsylvania

Brady Lucerno (28) and Dan Seals (31) met through common friends, eventually started working together (they share a passion for bringing clean cookstoves and fuels to families throughout the developing world), had the opportunity to travel together and got engaged while on a trip to Athens, Greece (even though Dan got food poisoning on the trip). Highlighting their appreciation for Mexican culture, they hosted a festive and colorful celebration for 200 guests that mixed south-of-the-border traditions with modern American ones at Round Barn and Farm Market in Biglerville, Pennsylvania, one of only a handful of truly round barns still around. The location of the venue, near Gettysburg, was key when they selected the venue. "Gettysburg ticks all the boxes, and it was fun to see our guests on the square in town, on the battlefields, on scooters and at the wineries," Brady says. The shaded outdoor ceremony, on the grounds of a restored apple orchard, included vivid ribbon decor, garlands and Boston ferns. The wedding party (all 20 people) wore blue suits (groomsmen) or neutral shades (bridesmaids) in styles of their choice. During the reception, a buffet-style meal was catered by the couple's favorite Mexican restaurant, Montezuma's. It was served on bamboo plates, with local pie, apple dumplings and ice cream for dessert and a pinata in lieu of a cake. There was no assigned seating, and guests served themselves. "I am so happy we went this route. I think it made the evening much more laid-back," Brady says. Decor was kept simple with white linens, lanterns and flowers in small glass jars; drinks included margaritas, beer, cider, liquor, mixers and wine from a family member's vineyard, Chatham Vineyards on the Eastern Shore of Virginia; and Brady's father gave a memorable locally inspired toast, replacing parts of the Gettysburg Address with details about Brady and Dan. Good friends of the couple, the Hello Strangers, provided the entertainment and "really brought the house down," the bride says says. Priorities for the couple included a large number of guests, great music, photos, good food that wouldn't break the bank and plenty of drinks. Says Brady, "It was hot, it was sweaty, and the line for margaritas was at times long, but people danced like crazy, we had an amazing sunset, and the last bus was packed." —Chrissy Sorenson
