A Metallic-Inspired Wedding at The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort and Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Florida

Ann Redfern (26 and a nurse) and Andrew Redfern (27 and a physician) first met when they lived on the same floor in college and became engaged after a picnic lunch at  the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The couple had stopped at the beach when Andrew he pulled out the ring box from their picnic cooler and proposed. They spent the next year planning a fun wedding accented with metallics, pink, gray and cream at The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort and Golf Club. “I can't emphasize gold enough; I'm in love! I just wanted to play with metallics and really have them be the focus,” says Ann. “We also kept the theme going of ‘All You Need is Love.” With the resort’s fountain as their backdrop, the couple accented the palm tree-lined ceremony space with simple white folding chairs. Ann and Andrew said “I do” in the rain and quickly went inside with their 138 guests to enjoy a cocktail hour complete with a mojito bar. Inside the ballroom, round white linen-covered were paired with gold chargers, gold chiavari chairs and tall gold candelabra centerpieces filled with candles, white hydrangeas and pink and white roses. The couple served their guests a plated dinner of stuffed free range chicken, braised short rib and grouper before treating them to a five-tier Italian buttercream-frosted marble and raspberry amaretto swirl wedding cake. “Having great food was very important to us as we both love to cook and try new cuisine,” says Ann. The couple spent their night dancing to DJ fresh with their friends and family and taking pictures in a photo booth. Each guest left the reception with a pair of "Redfern" and "I Love A Redfern" glasses, Mercy Hangover Prevention drinks and Florida-shaped cookies. “The reception was a blast!” says Ann.
