A Luxurious Romantic Wedding at the Taj Boston in Boston, Massachusetts

Bess Lawrence (32, an elementary school teacher) and Mathias (Irgens) met during a birthday party in Croatia.“Our paths crossed and love first sparked on the evening of Jelena's (the Maid of Honor) birthday party in Zagreb. We arrived at the front door to ring our hostess at exactly the same time, introductions were made and the rest is history! The next three years were spent living in Zagreb as Mathias finished up his medical degree at the University and I continued teaching at the International School. All in all, we each spent a total of six years in Croatia and managed not only to fall in love with one another, but also with the country, its coast and many wonderful people! Croatia will always hold a special place in our hearts.”And when Mathias proposed, he got down on one knee in a beautiful tropical garden on the island of Madeira on a cliff overlooking the ocean.The couple wanted a traditional wedding in the city of Boston which lies in the “middle” between Oslo, Norway (the groom's home and where we live) and Portland, Oregon, and Denver, Colorado, where the bride grew up. Bess has always adored Boston for its culture, historical significance and beauty and spent a great deal of time there visiting her brother and his family during her time studying at Lehigh University. The Boston Public Gardens have always been a favorite of hers and she couldn't imagine a more beautiful place for photos. “The Taj Hotel lies in a perfect location for out of town visitors and the intimate dining room was the perfect choice for the small reception with a gorgeous view of the gardens and glorious chandeliers!” Bess says. “Stunning.”
