A Luxurious Hindu Wedding at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner in McLean, Virginia

Pooja Trehan, 30, a strategy manager, and Kyle O'Meara, 32, strategy and development, went on their first date in Chicago during a huge snowstorm, which gave both of them an excuse to hold hands in order to walk to a restaurant safely. Their relationship turned serious over time, and one weekend Kyle and Pooja decided to go to Napa Valley for the weekend. When they got to the top of a vineyard that overlooked the entire valley, Kyle got down on one knee and proposed. In that moment, Pooja remembered a butterfly fluttering near them, which is where the couple got the inspiration for their butterfly themed Catholic wedding reception. Pooja came from an Indian background while Kyle was Irish Catholic, so the couple decided to have two ceremonies and two receptions to celebrate both of their cultures. The wedding festivities started off with the Catholic ceremony, which was held on a friday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Perish in Potomac, Maryland, followed by the Hindu reception at the Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner in McLean, Virginia. The reception was decorated in jewel-toned hues accented with gold, violet and ruby decor that complimented the couple's gown and sherwani. The Hindu ceremony was the next morning, and the couple booked the terrace at the Congressional Country Club for a harmonious coral and magenta wedding celebration. That night, the Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner from the night before was transformed into a butterfly inspired soft pink and silver space for the Catholic reception. The two-day celebration let each of the married couple's family and friends engage in the other culture's traditions.
