A Luxe Interfaith Wedding at the Tarrytown House Estate in New York
Eight years after a mutual friend introduced them in college, Hayley Reed (29 and a social worker) and Shiva Bhashyam (32 and a private wealth advisor) hosted an epic wedding weekend that spanned three days, two ceremonies and two very distinct venues. With an informal garden party in mind, the pair first wed in a civil ceremony at Lyndhurst Mansion in the groom’s hometown, followed by a traditional Hindu wedding at Tarrytown House Estate. “It was a multicultural affair reflecting our unified love for our families, cultures and unique traditions,” Hayley says. Fresh fems lined the length of alfresco aisle, their hue mirroring the eucalyptus in Hayley's bouquet. Dressed in an embellished sherwani and maroon dupatta, Shiva made his grand baraat entrance in the back of a Ferrari. Guests sat in a semi-circle around Hayley and Shiva during their first ceremony in a fragrant rose garden. "It felt like everyone was giving us a big hug," Hayley says. A massive canopy comprised of orchids, roses and hydrangeas hovered over the couple during the Hindu ceremony—a structure that was repurposed as a DJ booth. Menu items reflected fare sourced from the Hudson Valley, and signature Pimm's Cup cocktails spoke to the bride's English roots. As the night came to a close, the couple scrapped their original plan for a sparkler send-off when guests grabbed flowers off dining tables and showered the pair with petals.
