A Lush, Vibrant Wedding at DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, Massachusetts

Without a particular theme in mind, Sabrina Chau (28 and a retail manager) and Dan Scudder (28 and a business development professional) let their day evolve organically around their unique venue nestled in the woods of Lincoln, Massachusetts: DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park. Jim Dine's famous sculpture, 'Two Big Black Hearts,' which resides on the property, inspired the day's heart motif, which was given a whimsical twist by Sabrina and Dan's stationer, who replicated the sculpture in string on the couple's invites. As for colors, Sabrina says their palette picked itself! Bright shades of pink and orange popped against the lush, wooded backdrop and fit with the day's vibrant, eclectic vibe. "I let one decision lead me to another since I never had a 'big picture' plan," explains Sabrina. In the end, everything came together even more beautifully than either of them could imagine. With stunning floral arrangements, DIY touches and personal details like a Chinese tea ceremony during the reception (a nod to Sabrina's roots) and a ketubah hand-crocheted by Dan's great aunt, it's safe to call Sabrina and Dan's wedding a work of art.

The couple's stationery designer (Dan's sister) used the iconic Jim Dine 'Two Big Black Hearts' sculpture from the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park as inspiration for the string heart design that became the day's motif. "It was a great way of personalizing the venue to my theme," says Sabrina.
Sabrina's architectural Kelly Faetanini wedding dress reflected the aesthetic of the modern art museum venue.

Sabrina and Dan First Look
Jim Dine's famous 'Two Big Black Hearts' sculpture served as inspiration for much of the day's decor.
Sabrina's bridesmaids wore mismatched J.Crew dresses in shades of pink that ranged from coral to beet.
"I love, love, love flowers, so it was so hard to hone in on anyone thing, so I leaned heavily on my florist, Honey, to choose something for me," recalls Sabrina. "I gave her a general description of flowers I like (bright, colorful and flowers with texture) and she made bouquets that were absolutely beautiful."

Dan't grandmother made the couple's bright, watercolor-style, floral huppah herself.
Dan wore a orange ranunculus boutonniere affixed to his lapel.
"When I was standing at the ceremony site, under the huppah, looking out at our wedding guests nestled in the woods, it felt like a dream I never knew I had had come true," says Sabrina. "It was a wonderful feeling to see it all come together."
