A Lovely, Traditional Wedding at the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia
Leslie Harrelson (27, marketing) and Duncan Blackwell (30, surgical technician) knew they were meant for each other after 6 months of dating. But they wanted to enjoy their relationship without rushing things, so it wasn’t until a year and a half later that Duncan popped the question and Leslie said yes. For their wedding, they decided to use a natural color palette of ivory and green. Their ceremony venue, the Second Baptist Church in Richmond, was decorated with flower arrangements of white roses and ferns in the aisles and at the altar. The church doors were also decorated with wreaths of white roses and hydrangeas. Leslie and Duncan’s reception was held in the ballroom of the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond. Escort cards at the reception were written in classic calligraphy by William Arthur and were tied to oranges. Centerpieces were alternating tall and short white flower arrangements with delphiniums, hydrangeas, gardenias, roses and dahlias. Leslie and Duncan also had a game of I Spy at their reception, where guests were challenged to take pictures of a variety of things you’d expect to happen at a wedding, like “people hugging” and “bride and groom with grandma.” The night ended with a beautiful, four tier dark chocolate cake with espresso layers and chocolate ganache frosting. Leslie and Duncan’s country club wedding was classic and blissful.
