A Lovebird-Inspired Outdoor Wedding at Longan's Place in Miami, Florida

Lupearelis Llizo (24 and in aviation) and Alejandro Morales (33 and in aviation) became engaged in the same spot where they met three years earlier – flight school. Alejandro popped the question before taking Lupe to the restaurant where they had their first lunch date. Over the next 18 months, they worked to plan a lovebird-inspired gold and purple wedding. “I came across a lovebird stamp online. At that moment I knew it would be my theme,” says Lupe. Searching for a rustic venue with indoor and outdoor space, the couple chose island-inspired Longan's Place in Miami as their location. Prior to the ceremony, Lupe and Alejandro served their guests lemonade as well as red and white sangria in lovebird accented mason jars. ?A waterfall served as the backdrop while arrangements of white hydrangeas in burlap and lace wrapped mason jars lined an aisle of white chiavari chairs. After Lupe and Alejandro said “I do,” their 98 guests enjoyed a cocktail hour of shrimp and vegetable shooters as well as meatballs before going into the indoor hut reception. The couple treated their guests to a seated meal at round tables accented with textured neutral linens and tall hydrangea centerpieces before serving a four-tier, lilac confection filled with vanilla rum, chocolate, lemon and almond. A pair of lilac lovebirds were placed at the top. “I strongly believe the whole night reflected us as a couple,” says Lupe. "We had so much fun – love and happiness radiated in everything we did."
