A Love of Travel Inspired This Wedding at Cherry Hall in Kansas City, Missouri

Nicole Chow (31 and a travel account manager) and Shannon McCoy (35 and an IT consultant) met while working in a job that, “allowed you to travel all over the globe and it happened to also be the best job in the world,” Nicole says. As such, a contemporary travel-inspired wedding was a no-brainer. Stationery resembling tickets and airport-themed signage did exactly what it was meant to do—transport guests to the world of Nicole and Shannon’s love story.

For their ceremony, Nicole and Shannon tied the knot in front of an all-white floral wall that mirrored the day’s neutral palette. Nicole limited her wedding-day entourage to three women, her sister as maid of honor and two close friends. Earlier in the day however, she hosted a unique first look and champagne toast. Having been a bridesmaids in 12 Kansas City weddings, Nicole wanted to celebrate those friends with bubbly. Sons of the couple’s friends served as ring bearers, rolling up to the ceremony in a white Mercedes scooter. Also, as part of her tea ceremony ensemble, Nicole wore gold jewelry gifted from her mom, aunts and grandmas.
As a decorative entrance to the reception, oversized letters, bearing the couple’s last name, “immediately set the tone for a fun night.” Nicole and Shannon’s love of travel was literally put on display with their airport monitor-inspired seating display. To accompany the merriment when the couple, escorted by dancing lions, entered the reception, guests received handheld drums that doubled as favors and noisemakers. To finish off the night, the couple’s dessert featured all-white square tiers, separated by flower-filled acrylic dividers.
