A Love of Comic Books Inspired This Industrial Chic Wedding in Downtown Minneapolis
Tracey Zeng (28 and an attorney) and Shaun Taylor (35 and a TSA officer) envisioned a modern springtime affair in a palette of soft blues and greens with a twist. “To inject some personality, we included nods to our nerdy fandoms,” Tracey says. Shaun collected comic books to gift guests and displayed a piece of art commissioned from comic book artist Dan Dougherty. As a surprise, the couple arranged for a choir to sing “All You Need Is Love” from the balcony overlooking the ceremony after they were pronounced husband and wife. As for fashion, “I knew the dress was ‘the one’ the second I put it on,” Tracey says. “When I stepped out, I couldn’t stop grinning like a madwoman.” When it came to décor, an oversize wreath “represented the unending cycle of love that marriage represents,” the bride says. The floral arch that the couple exchanged their vows in front of served double duty, framing Tracey and Shaun’s sweetheart table. To bring in a personal touch, the couple named their tables after planets from their favorite books, TV series and movies, like Tatooine from Star Wars.
