An Elegant Literary-Themed Wedding at Cafe Pinot in Los Angeles, California
Although Amy Chen (27 and a consultant) and Brandon Jeong (28 and a data analyst) originally chose to have their wedding ceremony at the Los Angeles Public Library for its oasis gardens, they ended up becoming so inspired by the historic venue that they had a literary-themed wedding. The couple had their outdoor ceremony at the gardens, where the only flowers added to the occasion were the blood orange and pink calla lily bouquets that Amy and her bridesmaids held, arranged by Arcadia Floral Design. The subtle color palette of blue and gold was inspired by the art-deco style in "The Great Gatsby," seen in the bridesmaid dresses and the gold ribbon wrapped around the bouquets. The reception was held adjacent to the library at the outdoor patio of Cafe Pinot, where the literary theme truly came to life. Guests found their escort cards alphabetically arranged in a library catalog box and were assigned to a table named after a famous author. Dining tables were draped with runners made of book pages, which complemented the candleholders covered in the same paper. What we found truly enchanting was the lyrical cake, which was designed with inspiration from the song the couple had their first dance to. “The wedding cake had the lyrics from our first dance -- John Legend’s “All of Me” -- wrapped around it,” Amy says.
