A Jewish Wedding with French Flair at The Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The inspiration for Pamela Lieberman (31 and a restaurant owner) and Ed Lorden’s (35 and a carpenter) bold bash came from Pamela’s parents’ favorite restaurant in the south of France, Le Mas Provençal. “It’s known as a floral jungle, and that’s what our wedding was meant to feel like from start to finish,” Pamela says. French flair and pops of hot pink, orange, green and yellow could be found at every turn, beginning with their invites, which mimicked an old Parisian newspaper announcement. The two exchanged vows at their nontraditional Jewish ceremony under a Lucite chuppuh covered in hydrangeas, peonies and amaranth. "I ended up settling on a piece of colorful French lace," Pamela says of ordering her ball gown after seeing only fabric and a picture. The cake was made to resemble it and finished with the same topper her grandparents used at their own wedding. Pamela also wore her grandmother's jewelry in her honor. Compact arrangements of spray roses topped crystal candelabras on reception tables. Julia Child’s beef bourguignon and a cheese tart with warm fruit compote rounded out the foodie-forward menu. As a more provincial touch, fresh lemons filled with lemon sorbet hung from a live tree for guests to pick themselves and eat.
