A Jazz Age-Inspired Vintage Wedding at Antoine's Restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana

Aliisa Rosenthal (30 and a sales manager) and Sam Hodges (31 and founder of a startup) met at a 1980s themed Valentine’s Day party and decided to have their own themed celebration five years later. Over their year long engagement, the couple planned a 1920s Jazz Age-themed wedding in Aliisa’s hometown of New Orleans. When it came time to pick their venue, Antoine's Restaurant in the French Quarter was easily chosen. “It was my grandfather's favorite restaurant, and it was where my father and I went for special daddy/daughter dinners,” says Aliisa. As the restaurant has a vibrant color scheme, her and Sam chose black, metallics and ivory for their wedding colors. The couple's theme was reflected in every aspect of their wedding. More than 270 guests were met with two grand arrangements of white, silver and black feathers, white orchids, white hydrangea and pink roses in tall silver trumpet stands as they walked into the ceremony space. Inside, rows of vintage-style black chairs faced the couple’s unique white hydrangea and hanging tea light candle accented huppah. Aliisa and Sam were wed in a custom ceremony performed by a friend ?before having their traditional Second Line down Bourbon Street. The Pinstripes Brass Band led the couple and their guests in a parade around the French Quarter before returning to the restaurant. Their reception was decorated with white linens, votive candles and white feather centerpieces in coiled wire vases. “We also had transformed Antoine's 'Dungeon Room' into a bar and its 'Mystery Room' into a whiskey lounge with spirits served in coffee cups,” says Aliisa. The couple and their guests enjoyed dinner of local cuisine before moving across the street to the Cade Soule. “We danced to a DJ, threw beads from a balcony, and indulged in fried shrimp po-boys and bananas foster beignets. The party went until the wee hours of the morning,” says Aliisa.
