A Gorgeous Garden Wedding at Junipero Serra Hall in Santa Barbara, California

Connected by their love of surfing, Alexa Schloh (37 and an architect) and Josh Newman (45 and in health IT R&D) got engaged on a bluff overlooking the ocean. ”We wanted our wedding location to reflect character of Santa Barbara, California—history, architecture and the great outdoors.” These all factored into their ceremony at the Mission Rose Garden, where the sunset reflected off the Santa Ynez Mountains, and followed with a reception at Junipero Serra Hall. A standout detail from this wedding was Alexa’s lush bouquet, which included a wide variety of deep purple, pink and green flowers and textures. Even greater than the details were the people present, according to the bride: “The meaning and reason of our wedding was to celebrate the love we have for each other, and the love we have of our family and friends. Our friends contributed to our wedding in abnormally big and wonderful ways. The printmaker who designed and hand-printed our invitations, the winemaker who provided really great wine, the florist who procured and arranged the flowers, the chef who made our menu—all were friends who we adore, and our wedding was all the more special because of their talents.”
