A Glamorous, Vibrant Indian Wedding at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson in Jersey City, New Jersey

The colors used for Niti Sheth’s (30 and a consultant) and Rachit Patel (28 and works in risk management) vibrant Indian wedding transitioned from bright shades of pink for the traditional ceremony to deep purple for the festive dance party that followed.

For the first part of the day—the couple’s Hindu and Jain fusion wedding ceremony — Niti donned a raw silk, custom red and white lehenga created in Mumbai. Later for the reception, she changed into a more modern Indian outfit consisting of a crop top with tassels and skirt.

The venue’s views were one of Niti’s favorite parts of the day. “I’m a very proud New Yorker, and my wedding venue had to embody that sentiment,” Niti says. “When we toured the outdoor space at The Hyatt for the first time, I remember freezing for a moment and thinking, ‘Wow, I really don’t need to decorate anything. I’ve got the Manhattan skyline as my backdrop.’”

Reception music included several genres — Bollywood, EDM, reggae and hip-hop — which kept guests on their feet all night. “We had a few surprise dance performances by my cousins, who spent hours practicing to a medley of songs including my favorite, ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift,” Nita says.
