A Glamorous Rooftop Wedding at The Terrace on Grand in Kansas City, Missouri

The threat of torrential rain wasn’t enough to prevent Krishelle Ricketts and Brandon Ivory from saying “I do” in a rooftop ceremony high above Kansas City at The Terrace on Grand. “It literally rained all afternoon,” Krishelle says. “Our vendors kept calling to ask if we wanted to move everything inside, but our response was always, ‘No, the rain will pass.’” Once six o’clock rolled around, marking the start of the ceremony, Krishelle was proven right. “All of the rain cleared up,” she says. “We were just so happy.”

Partygoers mingled on the rooftop with signature French 75 cocktails while the bride’s uncle’s reggae band performed live tunes nearby. To ensure their reception was nothing short of unforgettable, the newlyweds encouraged guests to wave personalized white handkerchiefs throughout the lively New Orleans–inspired second line. “The best surprise was watching Brandon and his groomsmen perform their New Edition routine for me,” Krishelle says. “It was amazing.”
