A Glamorous Jewel-Tone Wedding at Woman's Club of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia
Christina Reeser (29 and a real-estate agent) and Matthew Walsh (32 and in the military) had a luxe wedding with a colorful twist. The couple decided to host their ceremony and reception at the Woman's Club of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. "The venue is absolutely beautiful, with its gorgeous chandeliers and a rich dark wood ceiling," Christina says. Christina and Matt covered the walls of the space with white draping to glam up the room, and they used soft purple uplighting to add a glow to the backdrop. They chose a vibrant palette of purple, green, fuchsia and gold for their decor. Two long dining tables were set up in the space surrounded by smaller round tables. All the reception tables were covered in glittery gold tablecloths and gold chiavari chairs. Vases filled with fuchsia roses, green and purple hydrangeas and amaranthus dotted the tables. Christina and Matt surrounded the bases of some of the centerpieces with moss to add green texture to the tablescape. As a result, the room shimmered with an array of colors. "It was a modern-day fairy tale," Christina says. For dessert, the couple served a variety of doughnuts along with their wedding cake, plus they had a s'mores bar. Christina and Matt love '80s music, so they hired the Doloreans, an '80s cover band, to play at their reception. Their first dance was the "Dirty Dancing" number to "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."
