A Glamorous Indian Wedding at the Stifel Theatre in St. Louis
For their wedding, Shreya Rao (32 and an event manager) and Nevin Arora (35 and works in marketing) took décor inspiration from the art and history of the Mughal Empire of India. The couple incorporated the rich colors and gold accents of the period into palette of their day. All the while, Shreya and Nevin managed to successfully fuse modern, glamorous details with Indian tradition during their September celebration. Instead of riding in on a white horse, Nevin opted for a vintage white Rolls-Royce, and Shreya wore a royal blue trousseau rather than red. Shreya's bridesmaids wore custom-made dresses from India. A mehendi artist inked a bride and groom on Shreya’s palms and discreetly added Nevin’s name to the intricate design. The opera house where they wed “is regal in such a way that it perfectly balanced our theme,” Shreya says of their opulent inspiration. “Taking our vows on the theater stage is a moment we’ll never forget.” After dinner, a DJ spun Top 40 music alongside Bollywood tunes—with the help of a live dhol drummer.
