A Glamorous Indian Wedding at the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson in Jersey City, New Jersey

Supreet Sandhu (30 and a medical office manager) and Nishan Mahbubani (31 and a product owner) wanted a conventional Indian wedding, but the pair also knew that their day needed to feel like their own. To personalize the celebration, Supreet and Nishan added sweet touches throughout, including a cartoon illustration of the two on their invitations. Supreet and Nishan both love gold, so the couple incorporated the bright hue into their décor. They also decorated the ceremony space in multiple shades of red and pink, but the reception glowed with gold-dipped greenery, Ferrero Rocher escort cards and gilded place settings. White flowers and mirrored accents added unique dimension to the space, keeping the gold from overwhelming the venue. Before the ceremony, Nishan entered on a white horse. To start the day, Supreet wore the traditional red of Indian brides, but later changed into a custom Indo-western, mint green reception gown. At the reception, the drink menu included the couple’s signature cocktails: the Mahb Wife, a vodka-based concoction, and the Mahb Life, a spicy tequila drink. Across the dance floor, the couple wrote the phrase “stay with me" to pay homage to their first dance song, “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith. After the cocktail hour, guests watched a grand fireworks display. “It was the most special moment of our lives, and it was amazing to see the looks on everyone’s faces,” Supreet says.
