A Glamorous Holiday Wedding at The Fairmont San Francisco in California
For their elegant Christmastime wedding in San Francisco, Grace Qaqundah and Stephen Auld fused their backgrounds and cultures—she's from Palestinian decent, and he hails from Scotland. The couple was married according to the rites of the Greek Orthodox Church at St. Ignatius. "It included many ceremonial elements of the Greek Orthodox tradition including a crowning ceremony and procession around the altar," Grace says. "We chose St. Ignatius because I've always loved this grand and stunningly beautiful church, especially at Christmastime." Towering Christmas trees covered in string lights rose in the back of the church, while poinsettias and white flowers added to the festive feeling. Church pews were also lined with holiday wreaths. The reception, held in the Gold Room at The Fairmont Hotel, had a glamorous aesthetic with plenty of gold and jewel tones. "The tables were adorned with textured linens, gold chiavari chairs, decorative candles and satin napkins," Grace says. "We wanted the Gold Room to have a signature scent as guests arrived so, on each table, we placed scented candles in the signature Jo Malone Orange Blossom scent." Tall centerpieces drew the eye, and the pops of red flowers complemented the gold coloring of the room. Guests were wowed with a glamorous champagne tower and danced to a live 12-piece band intermixed with a DJ who incorporated Arabic music into his sets.
