A Glamorous Gold Wedding at Union Station in Little Rock, Arkansas

Shelby Mashburn (24 and a nurse) and Mark Cain (26 and a high school teacher) met at Electric Cowboy. One night, a year later, Mark proposed on a dock over the Arkansas River with an assortment of lit candles spelling out “Will you Marry Me?” The couple wanted a glamorous, old Hollywood-inspired wedding. They used gold for their main color, which was in everything from the attire to the reception chairs to the wedding cake. They had their ceremony at First United Methodist Church where Mark’s parents and grandparents were married. They exchanged vows on Mark’s parents’ 34th wedding anniversary, and honored them with a special dance at the reception. The reception was at Union Station, an old train station in Little Rock. They decorated with a mixture of tall and short white floral arrangements to add some dimension to the room. But, the best part was the delicious comfort food menu. They set up little buffet stations around the room for guests to snack on. They had cheeseburger sliders, mini corn dogs, popcorn and a DIY potato bar with martini glass bowls. They also had a cheesecake bar with five different flavors of cheesecakes in addition to the two-tier gold wedding cake and huge Missouri Cardinal-themed groom’s cake. At the end of the night, the newlyweds danced to “Heaven” by DJ Sammy, Krispy Kreme donut favors and a grand exit in a red 1968 Shelby GT500 convertible.

“The ring was everything I have ever dreamed of,” Shelby says. “The setting has a single halo of diamonds around the band and around a perfect round diamond that is the prettiest I have ever seen.”

The groomsmen wore Jos. A Banks suits. “The color was oyster and served as the perfect grey-beige for the wedding color palette,” Shelby says. Although all the ties were champagne colored, they were all a little different for some added personality.
“Going with an old Hollywood theme I fell in love with the idea of sequined dresses,” Shelby says. “I chose the perfect dress for each one of them and gave it to them as a gift. They were all completely different, but all in the same color palette of soft gold. The designers were Adrianna Papell, Aidan Mattox and Badgley Mischka. I am still in love with every single dress. The girls looked incredible and the sequins were the perfect special touch.”
The bridesmaids carried small bouquets of white hydrangeas for a simple, classic look.

The reception was decorated with white table linens and gold chiavari chairs. They used a mix of tall and short centerpieces to add some dimension to the room. “The large venue was the perfect spot for us with the vintage old Hollywood style,” Shelby says. “There was a huge dance floor as well as a bar that ran almost the entire length of the room. We knew this would be the perfect place for us to celebrate and party with our loved ones.”

“There was a Mashtini, Mactini bar that had mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes and macaroni ’n cheese that you could load up in a martini glass however you liked,” Shelby says.

Mark's dad spent months constructing a mini replica of Busch Stadium in St.Louis, Missouri. The stadium is home to the St. Louis Cardinals, Mark's favorite baseball team. “The stadium was incredible and huge,” Shelby says. “The stands were filled with mini cupcakes that looked like a little crowd. On the pitcher's mound stood a custom model of us that pictured Mark holding me in his arms, both wearing Cardinals jerseys with CAIN on the back and 20 on one jersey with 14 on the other. The figurine looked exactly like us! Our names and wedding date were also on the scoreboard."
