A Glamorous Gold Wedding at The Stanley in Lee's Summit, Missouri

Courtney Cook (26 and works in marketing software) and Dylan Barr (27 and an engineer) met through mutual friends even though they only lived five miles apart. Dylan proposed while they were hiking in Vedauwoo in Wyoming. The couple wed in The Aspen Room of The Stanley and then flipped the room for the reception. Since they got married in February, they decided to use some wintry garland throughout their decor and then added gold for a more glamorous, celebratory feel. They worked with Victoria Gardens to create lush green and white bouquets with painted gold acorn accents. The tables were dressed in glittery gold linens and candle centerpieces gave the room a romantic glow. They served slow cooked roast beef in au jus sauce with potatoes, roasted vegetables and a salad. They also had a four-cheese macaroni that was completely devoured by guests. Boulevard Brewery served four local beers and wine. “The Special Release Boulevard Rye was the biggest hit,” Courtney says. “It also happens to be one of Dylan’s all-time favorites.” Instead of wedding cake, they served pies like apple and pecan as well as a couple less common varieties. The best part of the night was the dancing, though. “My husband is one of the few men out there that absolutely loves to dance,” Courtney says. “So with so many men killin’ it on the dance floor, you’d better believe almost everyone in the room joined in. Guests danced to Dylan’s carefully crafted playlist which included everything from old school jazz, Motown, R & B, ’N Sync, dubstep and Taylor Swift. At the end of the night, Dylan and I literally had to tell everyone to stop dancing and go home! It was truly amazing.”
