A Glamorous "Cloud Nine"-Inspired Wedding at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City
Erika and Rodney found wedding design inspo in New York City. Rodney proposed on a ride around the Big Apple, Erika’s hometown, so it was only natural for the pair to say “I do” in the city too. “I’ve always pictured myself as a New York City bride,” Erika says. For the ceremony, the couple headed to St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, a downtown staple, and followed up their vows with a trolley ride and a party at Cipriani Wall Street, another classic site.
The pair’s hashtag, #OnMcLeod9, inspired the décor of the party at Cipriani. “I wanted a dreamy feeling when guests entered the room,” Erika says. An ethereal white, ivory and gold color palette and custom monograms transformed the space into a glam old-New-York-style celebration. Orchids, hydrangeas and roses topped tables alongside tall branches of cherry blossoms, one of Erika’s favorites. “The candles and the flowers added a cloud-like feel to the décor,” Erika says. The couple’s dessert not only included their gold custom monogram, but also mirrored the lace design of Erika’s gown—and included pearls, a nod to Erika’s sorority. In true New York fashion, Erika and Rodney followed their sparkler exit with a ride in a vintage yellow cab, but with one addition: a “just married” sign.
