Inspired by The Great Gatsby and the city of Paris, Sarita Colon (31 and a dancer, singer and actress) and Sam Ackrill (37 and director of operations for Carnival Cruise Line) amped up the glam for their chic, black-tie affair. A giant, ivy-covered tree served as an altar for the couple’s outdoor wedding ceremony. Twinkling lights and a swag of white hydrangeas, vendela roses, majolica spray roses, cymbidium orchids and greenery decorated its massive trunk. “It was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony,” Sarita says. Sarita’s showstopping blush gown was adorned with hand-embroidered layers of soft Chantilly lace and tulle with a plunging illusion neckline. The bride paired her intricate dress with a white cathedral-length veil to complete her dramatic look. “I love long, royal tables with everyone sitting close,” Sarita says. “I wanted this wedding to be more than just a celebration of us—I wanted it to be a celebration for both of our families becoming one.” After entering the reception, the newlyweds a danced to salsa music and a live percussionist on the congas.
