A Glam Winter Wedding at the Atlas Valley Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan
Allison Hrabec (25 and a math teacher) and Matthew Meiste (27 and a chiropractor) met by chance on their very first night on a cruise to the Caribbean. The pair hit it off and over dinner where they discovered they were both attending the same university in Michigan. After an incredible week together, they reconnected stateside, which eventually led to an elegant wedding with wintry, whimsical flair in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Allowing the couple to host both the ceremony and reception in one place, the Atlas Valley Country Club was deemed the perfect spot for the couple’s mid-February soiree. “I fell in love with the tall ceilings, beautiful wooden bars, spacious lobby and spaces for the wedding party to get ready,” says Allison. The day kicked off with a heart-warming ceremony. Allison and Matthew exchanged vows under an arch of airy white fabric and a dazzling crystal chandelier, and performed a sand unity ceremony using sand from Holland (a nod to Matthew’s roots) and Allison’s family cabin in Caseville, Michigan.
After their “I dos,” the newlyweds invited guests into the ballroom for dinner and dancing. The pair brought their winter wonderland theme to life with shades of cool blue, silver and white, floating centerpieces arranged atop mirrored platforms and flickering pillar candles adorned with shimmering rhinestone accents. Snowflake table numbers displayed atop silver wine bottles and seasonal blooms heightened the effect.
A tip for the taking from Allison and Matthew: “There will be stressful times when every venue is contacting you for more information or when you’re trying to complete the guest list — having everyone’s proper address was much harder than it should have been — but everything finds a way of working itself out in the end.”
