A Glam, Modern Wedding at the Crystal Ballroom in Casselberry, Florida

Angelique Mulligan (23 and an elementary teacher) and Joshua Elardo’s (30 and an MBA student) planned a glamorous, modern soiree for their early-fall wedding in Casselberry, Florida. The Crystal Ballroom provided an elegant backdrop for the affair with its well-appointed interiors that served as a blank slate for Angelique and Joshua to make their own. “We also loved the convenience of having our ceremony and reception at the same location,” Angelique says. The evening unfolded with an indoor ceremony in one of the venue’s many breathtaking ballrooms. With the help of Crystal Ballroom’s planning team, the couple transformed the space into a sophisticated, romantic scene. Panels of airy white fabric hung from the ceiling, lending the intimate space an ethereal aesthetic, while bundles of lush white blooms lining the aisle called to mind an English garden. Surrounded by their families and friends, Angelique and Joshua exchanged vows they’d written themselves, expressing their commitment to each other in their own words. “Josh is the funny one of the two of us, so his vows were more comical, with some jokes thrown in, but meaningful as well,” Angelique says. “I think our guests appreciated hearing our vows, knowing they were written from the heart.” The couple switched gears for the reception, transitioning from a palette of traditional white and ivory to bold and bright shades of blue and fuchsia. White manzanita trees draped in glittering crystals stood at the center of each table atop mirrored pedestals, setting a dramatic, contemporary tone for the rest of the decor. Panels of blue satin fabric adorned silver chiavari chairs, and fuchsia uplighting created a cool, contemporary vibe that got guests in the mood to party. After a dinner of Hawaiian-style chicken, Angelique and Joshua invited guests to join them out on the dance floor, where a DJ spun late into the night. —Libby MacCarthy
