A Glam, Modern Wedding at Patrick Properties Hospitality Group in Charleston, South Carolina
Carrie Bergmans (29 and a transplant hepatology physician’s assistant) and Ryan Stidham (37 and a gastroenterologist) romantic Southern plantation wedding played on the rich green of the surrounding ancient trees and gold hues to show off the best of Charleston.
“Given the natural beauty of the location, we wanted to focus on that for the ceremony,” Carrie says of keeping the décor subtle. Guests sat in white chairs draped with garlands made of magnolia leaves. Carrie and Ryan exchanged vows under a chandelier hanging from one of the estate’s large oak trees.
A high bun paired with long dangling earrings accented Carrie’s off-the-shoulder A-line gown with French Chantilly lace.
Wanting the reception to create the atmosphere of an intimate outdoor dinner party, guests dined alfresco under café lighting by the water. Large white blooms of ranunculus and anemones rested in delicate gold vases, while place settings included waxy magnolia leaves adorned with gold calligraphy.
“The focus was on the guest experience, hoping to incite a real celebratory atmosphere,” Carrie says.
Guests were treated to microbrews from both Carrie and Ryan’s home states (Michigan and Delaware) as well as classics like sweet tea. Those who wanted a break from dancing could partake in provisions from the cigar rolling, Scotch bar and gelato cart stations.
The rich hues of the magnolia trees inspired the glamorous green bridesmaid gowns.
