A Glam, Modern DIY Wedding at the Colonnade in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Sara Broski (31 and owner of Etsy shops Nice Package Design and Tiny Galaxies) and Ryan Murphy’s (28 and a mechanical engineer) intimate wedding at the Colonnade in Scranton, Pennsylvania, was filled with plenty of playful, handmade details and glam accents that spoke to the couple’s fun-loving personalities. The day started with an intimate outdoor ceremony, where the couple exchanged vows outdoors and made their exit under a shower of vibrant pink and orange pom-pom confetti. A jewelry designer, Sara has a knack for crafting, so a few custom details were a must. She put her creative skills to work, designing everything from the floral programs to the escort cards and table numbers. Gold glitter, a prominent feature in many of her designs, made an appearance throughout the day, topping the reception tables and popping up on the rims of the couple’s signature drink, a Dirty Shirley, in the heart-shaped lollipop favors and even on the modern, four-tier wedding cake. Bright blooms like ranunculus, roses and peonies in shades of orange, peach, coral, pink and white brought the elegant ballroom at the Colonnade to life and a playlist filled with upbeat '90s and contemporary hits kept the party going late into the night. A tip from Sara and Ryan: “Don’t place too much pressure on yourself to have a perfect wedding full of DIY details. Sometimes it’s easier to just buy things instead of struggling to make them, so it’s important to pick and choose what makes the most sense to make and what makes more sense to buy.”
