A Glam Hot Pink Wedding at the Terrace Bay Inn in Escanaba, Michigan

Ever since she was a child, Katie Lehouillier (23 and an assistant manager) knew exactly where she wanted to get married — the Terrace Bay Inn — so when Adam Whitmer (27 and works in retail) popped the question, she knew exactly where to turn. “The gazebo looks out onto Lake Michigan, which is a beautiful sight, and the Terrace offered both indoor and outdoor spaces, giving me exactly what I was looking for,” says Katie. With the venue all squared away, the couple enlisted the help of the wedding pros at Ever After Decorating to sort out the finer details. Playing off Katie’s love of a little sparkle, the couple decided to go with an “elegant bling” theme for the day. While they opted to keep things simple and romantic for the outdoor ceremony, decorating the space with panels of light, airy fabric and a few cascading arrangements of pink and ivory blooms, the reception was all out glam. Hot pink tulle was wrapped around the reception chairs and graced the tops of the tables to bring the Terrace Bay Inn’s ballroom to life. Shimmery details like tree-like centerpieces made with crystal beads and rhinestone-studded candles introduced a whimsical note to each of the tabletops, heightened as the sun set and the candlelight caused the beads to twinkle and shine. Fairy lights lit up the head table and backdrop with a soft, ambient glow and the pink velvet and strawberry wedding cake stunned, dripping in rhinestones and displayed on a statement-making stand. A tip for the taking from Katie: “The best advice I can give is enjoy every single minute of planning! It may seem stressful and it may get overwhelming at times, but it goes by so quickly. Not everything will go exactly how you want, but I promise it will still be the most amazing day of your life. Don’t let other people’s opinions bring you down, because it is ultimately your day.”
