A Gatsby-Inspired Vow Renewal Ceremony at Heartwood Conference Center & Retreat in Trego, WI

Cody Pearson (29 and a machinist) and Kyna Pearson (29 and a photographer) started dating when they were only 15 years old and were high school sweethearts. On the day before Valentine's Day in 2004, which happened to be Friday the 13th, Cody proposed to Kyna. They were only 20 years old at the time and could only afford a small ceremony in their apartment complex's party room. They had no reception or any sort of theme. When Kyna became a wedding photographer years later, she became envious of all the beautiful weddings she was seeing. After talking with Cody, they decided to have a vow renewal for their 10 year wedding anniversary to make up for the wedding they never had. Kyna frequently photographs at the Heartwood Conference Center & Retreat and with the beautiful lake and vast space knew she wanted to have the ceremony there. Both Cody and Kyna love the style of the 1920's era and decided to have their ceremony with a Great Gatsby theme. Bridesmaids wore short, white dresses with silver sequin accents while groomsmen wore black tuxedos with a gold handkerchief. To continue the Gatsby fashion, Kyna, her mother and her bridesmaids all made individual headpieces for each wedding guest that was in their wedding family. Their color palette was gold, silver, white and blush pink for a romantic feel. They used feathers, sequins, and sparkles to add texture to the romantic palette. "Nothing was too over the top," Kyna said. After 10 years of marriage, Kyna and Cody finally got to share their special day with loved ones.
