A Garden Party Wedding With Quirky, Modern Touches at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn, New York
Vanessa and Jason met through friends at a Chinese buffet, so the couple had to include the cuisine at their wedding. Between the ceremony and reception at the Wythe Hotel, a marching band led the whole crew to a cocktail hour at a nearby club, where the couple served noodles in takeout containers. Otherwise, the day resembled a sophisticated garden party, with hanging vines, loose flower arrangements and a blush color palette.
Invitations made of real leather set the tone for the chic—and slightly unexpected—celebration. Smilax, roses and orchids climbed up a brick wall at the outdoor ceremony. Vines hung over candlelit tables, where guests chowed down family style, eating heirloom tomato salad, crispy pork rillettes with grilled corn and braised Kinderhook beef with veggies. The couple not only used Chinese takeout containers to hold noodles during cocktail hour, but also as gift boxes for shot glass favors. In honor of their shared heritage, the newlyweds cut into Dominican cake, a rich vanilla confection with buttercream and guava.
