A Garden-Inspired Wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina
Wanting their wedding to feel very natural, Kristina Parker (29 and a special education teacher) and Bryan Eriksen (28 and an accountant) used lots of lush floral arrangements to add a garden feel to their rustic venue. They spiced up the vaulted-ceiling wooden ballroom with ivy and greenery hanging from the gothic iron chandeliers -- an idea we love for bringing the outside in. Wedding planner and florist Beth LeonGuerrero at WildFlowers hung the cascading garlands and added a little texture to the details with Spanish moss, leafy festoons and organic bouquets, perfectly enhancing the grandeur of Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina. “The pure beauty of the location and the natural feeling of the carriage house had us sold within seconds of seeing it,” Kristina says. Wanting to complement instead of compete with the natural gardens and waterfront site, the couple used a neutral color palette of green, ivory and blush and added pops of blue with the bridesmaid dresses and stationery. The best part, though, was Kristina and Bryan’s willingness to make their wedding super-personalized. Instead of a traditional wedding cake (neither are big cake fans), they served delicious chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and chocolate chips on top, as well as apple and pecan pies. As if that weren't enough, they also had a s’mores bar for some added sweetness. Wanting a relaxed garden-party feel, they set up corn hole, boccie and even cigar rolling to match their laid-back personalities.
