A Garden-Inspired Wedding at Bluxome Street Winery in San Francisco, California

It didn’t take long for Elise Everett (27 and a wedding planner) and Rob Johnson (35 and an investment manager) to take the plunge. They got engaged nine months after meeting on Match.com. “We both knew immediately that this was it for us,” says Elise, who had legally wed Rob at San Francisco City Hall a year before their garden-meets-Gatsby wedding celebration. “As a wedding planner, this was an opportunity to share what I do with our family and friends,” says Elise, who—after exchanging vows at the First Unitarian Universalist Church—celebrated at Bluxome Street Winery in San Francisco, California, with 90 guests. “It’s a beautiful working winery in the heart of the city.” The day’s enchanted-garden-meets-Gatsby theme held to a neutral palette—gray, green and white—and worked well to soften and illuminate the reception space. "I love the outdoors and lush greenery, so it was important to me to bring the outdoors in," Elise says. "The space is very industrial, so I created an urban garden with tons of greenery and plants.” Guests sipped on locally brewed beers and spirits and enjoyed a variety of food. "The wedding isn’t just for you,” Elise says. “It’s just as much for your families. Keep that in mind, and don’t sweat the small stuff.” —Carolyn Meers
