Mary Tran (31, financial consultant) and Gregory Cobb (32, marketing consultant) met at a company barbeque. They didn’t talk, but Mary remembers thinking Greg was cute. They met again at a company happy hour and got to talking. Greg admitted to Mary that he had a crush on her since they first met, and the two began dating. They lived together for five years near Philadelphia’s Old City, after which they moved to the town of New Hope. One year, on Memorial Day weekend, Greg suggested they visit the park they used to frequent when they lived in Philadelphia. Under a cherry blossom tree, he proposed to Mary with a princess cut diamond ring. They held their wedding on the same day as their 7 year dating anniversary. Mary and Greg wanted to have their wedding in Philadelphia, since that is where both of them grew up. They picked Old St. Jospeh’s Church in Old City for the ceremony because of its history and because it was relatively small and intimate. They also liked that it was close to Boat House Row, since Greg is a rower and wanted a few pictures on the dock. For the reception, they chose the Woman’s Club of Bala Cynwyd because of its classical architecture, neutral colors, and open feel, which meant there was no bad seat in the house. Since their wedding was in the late fall, Mary and Greg chose a color palette of deep purples with pops of green.  The bridesmaids wore cowl neck, floor length dresses in eggplant by Jim Hjelm and the groomsmen wore purple orchid boutonnieres with their black tuxedos. Mary wore a strapless, trumpet style Alvina Valenta dress with a lace bodice and satin train. Dinner at the reception was a fusion of Philadelphia classics and Vietnamese delicacies. In lieu of favors, Mary and Greg gave a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphona Society in memory of Mary's father, who passed away from leukemia. For the toast, Greg's rowing buddies celebrated with their club's drink of choice, Dale's Pale Ale. The night ended with a four tier wedding cake and endless dancing. Mary and Greg's classic Philadelphia wedding was full of laughter and love.
