A Fun, Classic Wedding at Historic London Town and Gardens in Edgewater, Maryland

Elizabeth Dawson (27 and a communications manager) always dreamt of finding a true English gentleman like the ones she read about in British literature, but she didn't find him until she met Scott Hemmings (33 and an electrical engineer). Liz and Scott met at a bar crawl that their mutual friend invited them to in the hopes of setting the up. Just a few years later, that friend became Liz and Scott's officiant at their wedding, which took place at Historic London Town and Gardens in Edgewater, Maryland. Their waterside ceremony was full of laughter and love, with a processional to the tune of a Beatles medley that was performed by Liz's brother and a heartwarming poem recited by Scott's sister. The following reception took place in a nearby tent in the garden, with windows so that guests could enjoy the scenery. "We'd describe our wedding style as 'nerdy chic with a vintage twist,'" quips Liz. Elements of their style include the centerpieces, which consisted of vibrant dahlia and calla lily flower arrangements alongside stacks of books and table numbers written out in Scrabble tiles as well as favors of English tea and biscuits. Megan and Scott's wedding attire was classically beautiful, with the groom in a gray suit and navy tie and the bride in a romantic Reem Acra wedding dress that featured beading and a flowing tulle skirt. Liz and Scott's fun wedding had an elegance that would make Jane Austen proud.
