A Formal Winter Wedding at The Murphy in Chicago, Illinois
After meeting as undergrads at Colorado State University, Chicago-based couple Greer Satherlie (26 and in real estate) and Matt Hendrick (27 and in health care) began dating once the two coincidentally made the same move to Illinois years later. The newlyweds exchanged vows at the Holy Name Cathedral (the same church where Greer's parents wed!) before moving the celebration to The Murphy downtown along with 200 guests. "I wore the same long sleeve, silk dress that my mother and grandmother wore before changing into a cap sleeve Alexander McQueen gown and mink jacket for the reception," the bride explains. In search of a classic, winter wedding in the heart of the city, the couple planned a formal fête complete with ivory hand-sewn linens, sterling silver chargers and lush floral centerpieces filled with hydrangea and artichoke. "I just wanted a look that was timeless and classic," Greer says. "An overall feel that if you looked at a black-and-white photo of the day, you wouldn't be able to tell when it took place." One unique aspect to the couple's big day? "We stayed until the very end!" the bride says. "We were having so much fun dancing with friends and family that we closed down our own party."
