A Formal, Art-Deco-Inspired Mansion Wedding at Greystone Hall in West Chester, Pennsylvania
Sean (27 and an account manager) and Elizabeth (27 and a buyer) were next door neighbors in college and developed a fast friendship that soon turned romantic. After dating for a while, Sean proposed on New Year's on a walk with their dog, talking about what they most looked forward to in the coming year. Sean dropped to one knee to "tie his shoe" and pulled out a ring! They held an elegant mansion wedding at Greystone Hall, an impresive estate built in 1907. It was love at first sight, as Elizabeth explains, "Sean and I are very decisive people. It was the first venue we saw, and we didn't need to see any more." At her fitting, Elizabeth actually got to meet her dress designer, Kelly Faetanini, who designed the strapless, fit-and-flare gown that Elizabeth wore with a tremendous cathedral-length veil and two pairs of shoes. Her bridesmaids wore steel blue convertible gown from Two Birds, while the groom and his groomsmen wore dapper black Yves Saint Laurent tuxedos. All of the wedding flowers were white, from the hydrangeas, peonies, garden roses, and ranunculus in the bridal bouquet to the cherry blossoms in the wedding arch. As Sean and Elizabeth are both food and wine enthusiasts, they purchased all of the wine, including the Wolffer Rose, from a vineyard in the bride's hometown of Sag Harbor, New York and a sophisticated dinner menu included a hearty vegetarian option (as the bride is a vegetarian) of wild mushroom strudel with a white bean ragout. For dessert, guests ate from a four-tier, hexagonal, art deco wedding cake inspired by the venue's architecture. At the end of the evening, Sean and Elizabeth had their first dance to Ray LaMontagne's "Best Thing" to "bask in all of the love and celebration," Elizabeth says.
