A Festive, Latin-Inspired Wedding at 550 Trackside in Lawrenceville, Georgia
Amanda Williamson (22 and a first-grade dual-language teacher) and Spencer Brady’s (23 and a health-care administrator at UNC Health Care) wedding was inspired by their mutual love of Latin American culture and Spanish tiles, fitting since Spencer popped the question on one of their many visits to Nicaragua. The day started with a traditional ceremony at Snellville United Methodist Church, a stunning stone church with elegant archways, vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows. After exchanging vows, the couple and their guests headed to 550 Trackside in Lawrenceville, Georgia, for a night of dinner and dancing. The venue was the ideal setting for the couple’s Spanish-inspired affair; the stone walls, exposed wooden beams and old world charm paired perfectly with the Spanish-tile accents, papel picado and bright, cheerful floral arrangements. South American cuisine was a must for the reception, with Fuego Mundo Restaurant serving everything from churrasco steak to fried plantains for guests to nosh on before they hit the dance floor. Enlisting the help of family and friends to create the flower arrangements, stationery and rustic wood vases, to decorate and even to officiate the wedding was key for pulling off their vision. Another detail that played up the wedding’s theme and spoke to the couple’s relationship were the favors. To thank their guests for all their love and support, Amanda and Spencer gave their family and friends hand-stamped bags of coffee beans, a nod to their proposal at a coffee plantation in Nicaragua. A tip for the taking from Amanda: “Make all your decisions together, and make sure your wedding day reflects the kind of marriage you want for a lifetime.”
