A Fern-Filled Reception Followed This Couple's Beach Ceremony on North Carolina's Emerald Isle
Soo Jin (29, an editor and marketing account manager) and Eric Kim (30, a research scientist) were married at Soo Jin's family beach house the very day before they left to move to Seoul Korea for Eric's job. "The idea of making this memory at that home and being able to return again in the future really appealed to me. It felt fitting, too, to take the opportunity of our wedding to bring all of our loved ones (at least those in the States) together in that space," they share. For their family-filled wedding in the Outer Banks, the couple, "decided to honor our families by making sure all four of our parents and my grandmother (my mother’s mother) walked down the aisle. We also asked my best friend Amelea, who’s also happened to know us as a couple the longest, to be our officiant—she registered for the occasion, and the three of us worked together to craft the ceremony—and Eric and I each had a friend do a reading during the ceremony. At the reception, we also each had a friend give a toast, one of them being Eric’s childhood friend who flew all the way from Japan just for that weekend," the couple says. As for the day's decor, sage green dominated the color palette, accented by fern-centric floral arrangements. The two-tier wedding cake even featured woodland-inspired fern details.
