A Fashion-Forward, Urban Wedding at Turner Hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Ashley and Anthony eloped last year but still wanted to have a larger wedding celebration with family after the fact. However, their initial plans were derailed when the pandemic hit and forced the couple to delay their celebration. With a bit of patience and some replanning, the couple was able to celebrate alongside loved ones at Turner Hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

In addition to the unique planning journey that brought Ashley and Anthony to their August wedding day, the couple filled the actual event with details that made the party feel uniquely their own. "Our entire day was out of the ordinary, but that’s just what we wanted," says Ashley. "I was inspired by a combination of themes for our day, I just wanted it to feel like us. We went for a lot of industrial and urban elements, but also tried to incorporate nature. Decor could be best described as ethereal with lots of moss and twinkle lighting. Our colors were blush, sage, grays and browns, but our use of wildflowers made it possible to use just about every color on the wheel. We had a modern Christian ceremony that my dad performed and decided to jump the broom! For the reception, we went with middle eastern food for dinner. It was amazing! We had specialty cocktails that I wrote the recipes for. They were a lavender French 75 and a whiskey Negroni with rosemary. My favorite part was the popsicles, a friend of ours owns a gourmet popsicle company and he helped us pick out the best flavors for our day. 'Coffee and donuts' creamy popsicles, avocado creamy popsicle, honeydew lime fruity popsicles and a salted watermelon fruity popsicle," were served to the couple's guests at their industrial wedding reception in Milwaukee.

Beyond making the celebration feel unique to Ashley and Anthony as a couple, it was important to the duo that family be central to the wedding. Notably, Ashley worked with her mom to DIY the decorations. "My mom and I did all of the decorations ourselves! We used wildflowers for everything! I wanted a wide variety of colors and shapes and my mom made sure we achieved that. My mom and my sister even climbed through a field to find the perfect blooms! Additionally, I kept my late brother's beads around the handle of my bouquet," shares Ashley. Along with that, Ashley recalls the ceremony processional as her favorite part of the entire day. "Walking down the aisle was so special for both of us. Getting to see all of our family and friends in the same place during such a weird time and making it to each other at the end of it."
