A Fairytale Farm Wedding at Post Family Farm in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Tired of traditional dating, Scott (33 and in construction management) and Libby (33 and a registered nurse) decided to give online dating a try. Libby was the first to find his profile and sent him a quick message. "That message turned to an exchange of phone numbers and lots of text messages back and forth before finally having our first date on 11/11/11," she says. It must have been a lucky date because they continued to date for a year an a half. When they started to talk about marriage, Libby mentioned that she wanted to turn one of her mother's rings into an engagement ring. Taking note, Scott took the ring to get customized at Libby's Uncle's jewelry shop. After asking her dad's permission at lunch, Scott invited Libby to a weekend getaway at their cottage in the North, where he proposed. He even planned ahead and invited their friends and family to come up the day after to celebrate! As far as wedding planning was concerned, Libby set off searching for the perfect nearby venue and found Post Family Farm in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "It was the first and only place we looked at. The staff, the landscape, the reception area--everything was perfect," Libby explains. Although Libby and Scott decided not to have a wedding theme, certain details, like the horse drawn carriage, wooded ceremony location, and canopied barn made this a farm wedding fit for a fairytale. They even incorporated a few fun whimsical elements, like superhero shirts for the groomsmen, a LEGO bride and groom cake topper, and a special appearance by Michigan State's mascot, Sparty, to take photos with guests and help cut the cake. Scott and Libby got through their wedding with an overall motto to "keep it simple" so that they wouldn't become overwhelmed or break their budget. As a result, they had a gorgeous ceremony and reception with just enough decor and stylistic choices to make their day as personal and memorable as possible.
