A Elegant Wedding With Modern Rustic Flair at Misselwood in Beverly, Massachusetts
Jayme Kennerknecht (34 and an interior designer) and Daniel Simonelli (33 and an engineering and construction contractor) planned a romantic, rustic affair with a subtle, modern twist for their August wedding at Misselwood in Beverly, Massachusetts. “I wanted our wedding to feel genuine, not contrived or forced—an intimate and approachable event for people we care about to enjoy with us,” Jayme says. “DJ had grown up on the water, and my family is from a rural town in upstate New York, so we tried to create an experience that reflected our personal style but also honored our friends and family.” A palette of white, cream, ivory and green established an organic, ethereal feel for the evening, with details such as farm tables, French country chairs and bouquets of eucalyptus and full white blooms striking the perfect balance of timeless elegance and modern rustic flair. A ceremony overlooking the water provided a breathtaking backdrop for the couple’s “I dos” while paying tribute to Daniel’s coastal roots. Standing on a sisal rug surrounded by rose petals, Jayme and Daniel exchanged vows they’d written themselves, before leading their guests to the reception to the tune of Bill Withers’s “Lovely Day.” Before sitting down to dinner, guests sipped cocktails and nibbled hors d’oeuvres on the ocean-facing patio at Misselwood in Beverly, Massachusetts. The reception unfolded under a spacious white tent, welcoming wooden farm tables dotted with candlelight inviting guests to kick back and relax. Fairy lights twinkled overhead, adding a note of intimacy and whimsy to the space. The newlyweds tempted guests with six cakes—including lemon-raspberry mousse and strawberry-vanilla cream—after dinner and got everyone moving and grooving with the help of live band Young Love and the Thrills. Late-night pizza kept the party going strong until the last song played. A tip from Jayme: “Keep it genuine—it’s all about the two of you. And hire a great band.” —Libby MacCarthy
