A Dramatic Black-and-Red Palette Set the Tone at This Wichita Art Museum Wedding in Kansas
Brigitte and Sebastian returned to wed in the place they met: Wichita, Kansas. “The art museum appealed to me both because I’m an architect and because Sebastian and I have always had a great time at events there,” Brigitte says. “Similar to my professional style, I wanted the wedding to be simple and cleanly designed.” The bride’s bouquet of ivory and blush dahlias, white freesia and roses, and burgundy scabiosa captured the wedding’s color palette. Elsewhere, white hydrangeas, burgundy astilbe and gold votives popped against the granite interior. Brigitte DIYed the invitations to mimic modern art but opted for something playful for the escort cards: paper airplanes (created with Sebastian in mind). After a Catholic mass, music took center stage at the reception. “Sebastian’s family is Mexican and Colombian,” Brigitte says. “After a very successful conga line, our DJ realized Latin music might be the way to go. ” Brigitte and Sebastian gifted koozies, their favorite collectible, as favors. Buttercream icing, decorated with light ruching, covered layers of carrot and white cake.
