A DIY Wedding at Marquette Mountain in Marquette, Michigan

Lacey Laplant (22 and a waitress) and AJ LaCosse’s (29 and an operator) was a celebration of the fall season with an enviable mountaintop ceremony and a color palette rich in autumnal hues. “Fall is our favorite season in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so it was the perfect theme for us,” says Lacey.

The pair gathered their friends and family at Marquette Mountain for the rustic harvest soiree, where they took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and abundant sunshine with an outdoor ceremony. “We couldn’t have asked for anything better,” says Lacey. “The bridge where the ceremony took place ran over a river that sounded so peaceful.” Hay bales covered in warm, cozy blankets served as the seating while playing up the autumnal theme, and bright orange pumpkins lined the aisle.

After being announced husband and wife, Lacey and AJ invited guests to join them in the nearby chalet for dinner and dancing. Burlap accents, chalkboard signage, fall foliage and lace-wrapped mason jars filled with fresh white mums achieved the couple’s vision, as did a menu featuring mouth-watering seasonal eats, like a birch bark-inspired wedding cake and a pumpkin pie vodka and apple cider signature cocktail. The venue itself provided stunning views of the colorful, natural setting, while playful paper lanterns interlaced with twinkling fairylights added a whimsical feel to the decor.
