Jamie Lippy (25) and Paul Hester (27) met as young 4-H’ers who showed livestock together. Their love began as high school sweethearts, but the couple went their separate ways in college. They began dating again while Paul was in graduate school, and the couple realized the strong bond they have with one another. Paul proposed shortly after graduating while the couple was on a trip to Gettysburg National Park, standing under the Eternal Light. The wedding ceremony was held in a historic and rural church in the bride’s hometown of Lineboro, Maryland. The couple decided on a farm as their reception venue because of their rural upbringing and love for natural settings. The reception was held at Lakeview Farms in Dover, Pennsylvania, a working horse farm with a renovated barn for receptions that provided a rustic chic setting. The theme revolved around Maryland, Jamie and Paul’s home state, and included details the couple chose to showcase from both historical culture and scenic landscapes. The cocktail hour was set up below the barn in the stable yard, framed by an original field stonewall with rolling fields and a pond for the backdrop. Appetizers were served on vintage wooden whiskey barrels and guests were free to roam about the barn and stable yard while listening to light jazz music. Once dinner began, guests were seated in the barn at formal tables decorated with Maryland accents such as engraved crab hammers and wine glasses that they could take home. For the rest of the night, Jamie, Paul and their guests danced on the bare wood floors of the barn.

Jamie wore a wedding dress by Oleg Cassini. It featured a form fitting lace and organza bodice with organza and tulle flowers, which flowed into a trumpet style gown.
Jamie’s bouquet was an all-white rose and hydrangea arrangement with baby’s breath and blue beads. It included a silver cross and burlap bouquet wrap.
The bridesmaids wore Maryland flag heels, hand painted by Breanne Lippy, sister of the bride and Maid of Honor. The groomsmen wore Maryland flag socks to match.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to wear a gardenia in my hair,” says Jamie. She wore her hair down with one side pulled back with a gardenia for a simple, classic look, and wore her older sister’s veil as “something borrowed.”

The centerpieces were unfinished wood cuts from our woods with barley and flower arrangements and Maryland Wine Festival Bottles.
“The Maryland state flag has a colorful pattern that we thought would accent a rural venue,” says the bride. The black and gold in the flag mirror the colors of the Black-eyed Susan, which is the Maryland state flower and the bride’s favorite.
At the place settings, we had custom engraved crab mallets, which are used every summer for Maryland crab feasts. Additionally, parts of the table place setting used were Maryland Wine Festival wine glasses as well as mason jar mugs that guests took home at the end of the night.

The wedding cake was a creation by Fat Goat Cakery. Each of the four tiers was a different flavor, covered in buttercream icing and accented with real flowers.
