A DIY Garden-Inspired Wedding at a Private Residence in Fontana, California
Using a neutral ivory, green, yellow and beige color palette, Maddy Bognot (30 and a transcriptionist) and Trey Ruff III (45 and a service manager) had an organic backyard wedding at their home in Fontana, California. They loved having complete control over the space, so they could tailor it exactly to their tastes. “We are very outdoorsy, nature-loving people,” Maddy says. “So a simple, natural style was what we were going for.” Wanting their wedding to be ultra-personal, the couple had only 34 guests and made almost all the details themselves. Maddy made the whimsical stationery, her mother made all the floral arrangements, her nieces created all the chalkboard signage, family members made the eclectic desserts and Trey even made the dance floor. “The fact that our wedding was DIY made the wedding truly our own,” Maddy says. “Having creative control of all the wedding elements allowed us to really put ourselves into this wedding in a way that our guests could see it.” Ashley Durham Studios beautifully captured all the details of the day. Since Indian food is their favorite, the couple had an Aroma Indian Grill and Banquet-catered buffet for dinner, with everything cooked fresh on site. At the end of the day, Maddy and Trey’s favorite part was being surround by the people they loved most. “We think the fact that we kept our wedding small and very intimate allowed our guests to really feel like they were a part of our big day, not just witnessing it,” Maddy says.
