A DIY Country Wedding at the Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach, Virginia
Sydney Poore (23 and a social media director) and Hunter Banks (23 and a naval officer) were high school sweethearts. They were separated after graduation when she went off to college and he enlisted in the Navy, but they reunited when he returned for Naval Academy. Although she knew they belonged together, Sydney wasn’t expecting a proposal any time soon. One day, Sydney found a shoebox with the turquoise cowboy boots she had told her mother she wanted to wear for her wedding. Sydney assumed the boots were a misplaced Christmas present from her mother. When she opened the box to try them on she was completely surprised to find an engagement ring, and turned around to find Hunter proposing to her. Sydney and Hunter wanted a country style wedding in a barn. They chose Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach for both their ceremony and reception. Although they intended to have an outdoor ceremony, rain forced them to move their vows indoors. Fortunately, the barn setup worked perfectly as a rain location. Sydney and Hunter had a soft color palette of dusty pinks and beige. They used silk flowers in pinks, purples and beiges for their flower arrangements, and they accented their decor with lace, burlap and vintage prints. The wedding party dressed casually in cowboy boots, with the groomsmen in jeans to go with their burlap vests and bridesmaids in an assortment of pink dresses. Despite the rain, Sydney and Hunter had a lovely country wedding with creative DIY decor.
